The Breed

The Bloodhound is a large, powerful dog. The breed has a distintive jowly appearance with drooping eyes, and long ears.
They have a strong musky smell, which some people find unpleasant. They also slobber.
The breed is reputed to be the best of all trackers.
Careful thought should be considered if you are thinking of buying a Bloodhound. They require a great deal of space and not a decision to be taken lightly.

Grooming

Grooming is minimal, a rub down with a chamois leather is all that is indeed to keep the coat glossy and healthy. The wrinkles on the face should be wiped clean and checked on a regular basis. The ears should be cleaned regulary to keep them healthy and reduce unpleasant ear odour.

Exercise

The Bloodhound requires plenty of vigorous exercise. They become very restless when confined indoors. The breed is not suited to city life or appartment living.
