The Burgess Premier Small Animal Show proves a major success!

Following last year’s record show, the biggest event in the small animal calendar was back to celebrate its 90th show.
Organised by the Bradford Small Livestock Society and headline sponsors Burgess Pet Care, the 2011 competition boasted a new name and new attractions, resulting in one of the most successful shows in the Society’s history. With an increase in show entries, the organisers have said the 2012 show has beaten last year’s number of exhibits and attendance figures.
Billed as the home of the UK’s only Rabbit Grand National, visitors flocked to see bunnies hop heights of up to 70cm! The successful Showcase Square area of the show, which featured these Swedish and British bunny jumpers, was even bigger this year to accommodate the crowds. Magdalena Asblom took the title for the second year with her rabbit Cherie, who completed the 10 jump course in an astonishing 11 seconds.
Naomi Chatterley, marketing manager at Burgess Pet Care and Small Animal Show sponsor, said: “Following last year’s success we are thrilled that the momentum of media and public interest continued, making the 90th show a real celebration. We are proud to sponsor the biggest and best festival of all things small and furry, and better still it gives us an amazing opportunity to educate the pet owning public that attend the show about the care, welfare and dietary needs of their own small pets!”
“The public flocked to see the Rabbit Grand National for a second year at the show and we believe it to be one of the most public attended shows in our history, more so than last year!”
