Pet Care

Your dog and.....Moving house

movingMoving to a new home is a stressful time for both family and pets. There are a few guidelines which will help make the move a little easier.

Prior to the move

Try using a Dog appeasing pheromone to reduce stress and fear of travelling. This is a natural solution which can be sprayed in the car and on dog bedding. It helps your dog feel more relaxed and at ease with noise and disruption. Using the spray for up to a month before the move will achieve the best results. Make sure your dog is wearing an identity tag with your new details. If your pet is microchipped , update your address with Petlog.  Research you nearest new vet. The POA vet finder service is ideal for this. Avoid feeding your pet for twelve hours if you have a long distance to travel.

On the move

It is safer for your pet to travel in a crate or carrier. It is dangerous for your pet to be loose in the car. If he is not in a crate, attach him to the seat belt with a special harness. Make sure you have water in the car. Stop regularly for toilet breaks. Never leave your pet in the car on hot/cold days.

Settling in

Reward your pet with a chew or toy. Have fun exploring lots of new walks and making new friends!
