Your dog and.....Aggression with other dogs
THE PROBLEMDogs can become aggressive to other dogs for a variety of reasons. They may lack socialisation skills and may be inexperienced at expressing and reading body language. Your dog may have had a bad experience with another dog and be fearful. Male dogs are more prone to aggressive behaviour.
TIPS FOR REDUCING LIKELIHOOD OF AGGRESSION
- Be aware! Watch the body language of unfamiliar dogs. Recall your pet if the dog displays aggressive body language.
- Don’t allow your dog to show dominant actions, these include mounting, biting hard, or placing paws on another dogs back.
- Don’t play too roughly with your dog
- Encourage socialisation with other dogs from an early age.
- Puppies should not play with older dogs, because it may lead to him playing too roughly.
- Introduce your dog to others without a lead. Dogs wearing a leads feel they cannot escape from the situation and may react with aggressive behaviour.
