Caring for your West Highland Terrier


The Breed

The West Highland White Terrier or "westie" as it is affectionately called is a very popular family dog. They have plenty of spirit and bundles of energy. They often have a strong, feisty streak so need firm training from an early age. They adore attention and are usually good with children. They were bred selectively for their white coats, making them visible whilst hunting on the moors of Scotland.

Grooming

They do require regular grooming to keep them looking tidy.

Health problems

The Westie is also prone to skin problems.
