The Breed
It is belived that the Welsh Corgi is an ancestor of the Swedish Vallhund and was probably brought over with the Vikings. The word "Cor gi" translates as literally "dwarf dog." This strong working dog was originally used for droving sheep and cattle, nipping at their heels. Unfortunatley, it still has instinctive tendancies to "nip", so is not always an ideal family dog. The breed make a good guard dog. It also tends to do well at agility.
