The breed
This breed is a cousin of the Irish Setter. With its striking red and white coat is a stunning looking dog. The breed almost became extinct and was saved by a 20th century clergyman called Noble Huston. They are still uncommon and always attract admiring comments and compliments from dog owners.
Grooming
The coat does regular grooming to keep in top condition.
Temperament
The Irish red and White tends to have an even temperament and usually makes a good family dog. It is usually good with children. Many owners confess that the breed is not as bright as other setters! They do appear to take longer to train, but the extra effort is well worth it.
Exercise
The breed thrives on daily, vigorous exercise and does not adapt well to a sedentary lifestyle or city living. It is happiest in a rural situation with constant mental and physical stimulation.
