Caring for your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

The Breed

The cavalier is the ultimate family dog. It thrives on human company and does not appreciate being left alone for long periods. It enjoys plenty of exercise but is also content to snuggle up on the sofa. Health

Due to the popularity of the breed, it has been subjected to intensive in-breeding. This has resulted in the development of serious heart problems in the breed. This heart condition can reduce the lifespan of the dog to 8 or 9 years. When choosing a Cavalier be sure to check the medical history of previous generations

Varieties The Cavalier comes in four colour variations Blenheim (red and white), ruby, black and tan and tri-colour (red, black and white). The Cavalier requires regular grooming, especially ears to maintain good condition.
