The Breed
The Cairn Terrier is one of the oldest of the terrier group. It originates from the Scottish Highlands where it was used for hunting. The Cairn Terrier has a strong, feisty and assertive personality. Male dogs are prone to snappiness and should be watched around children. Bitches tend to less agressive. The breed does require a good amount of exercise to remain well balanced and healthy.
Grooming
The Cairn Terrier has a coarse, weather-resistent outer coat that can be cream, grey, brindle, red, wheaten, gray, brindle, black, or black and tan. This breed has a soft, dense undercoat. The coat needs to handstripped to remove the coarse coat and should never be clipped.
