Caring for your Border Collie

The Breed

The Border Collie is a hard working sheepdog. It requires constant physical and mental stimulation to maintain good health. It is totally loyal to his master and is always eager to please. The Border Collie does have the tendancy to take life and himself rather seriously. It is not an ideal family pet and can be aloof and reserved with strangers.

Exercise and Entertainment

The Border Collie is not a dog designed for city living and can be destructive and even snappy without adequate stimulation. It is happiest in the fields working with his master. It is worth condsidering the many stimulatig activities available for non working Border Collies. Activities such as flyball, agility and heel work to music are ideal and this breed excels at all of these things.

Varieties

The coat comes in a variety of colours including Black/white, Tricolour, Blue merle, Red, Brown and Black. It does need regular grooming to prevent matting especially in its furnishings.
