The Breed

The Belgian Shepherd is a highly intelligent breed that has the ability to learn many skills and has an excellent concentration span. It has become a firm favourite for police work and is a superb sniffer dog. It excels at agility work and has also worked as a guide for the blind. Although it is quick to learn it, this breed needs a firm handler and training from an early age. It requires plenty of mental stimulation to prevent boredom. Vigorous exercise is crucial to maintain good physical shape. Many owners state Belgian Shepherds to be gentle, family dogs. Care should be taken with children as the breed can sometimes be a little snappy.

Grooming

The thick, silky coat requires grooming most days to prevent matting. There are three colour variations; Fawn, Red and Grey.
